
SOUR PICKLES

Ingredients
- pickling cucumbers
- 1t salt
- 1T mixed spices
- small piece alum
- vinegar
Directions
- Wash pickles and soak in water over night.
- Place pickles in jars and add 1t salt, 1T mixed spices, small piece alum to each jar.
- Fill jar with vinegar and seal.
This is all I have on the recipe. The mixed spices are unspecified. Mama said she didn’t remember sealing sour pickles like dills but I think it should be done, so I heated the jars and the vinegar. Unsealed jars used as new sours, the sealed ones stored longer to be full sour.
