
BUTTER BUTTONS

Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. (1c) butter
- 1/2c + 2T sugar
- 2 egg tolks
- 3/4 t vanilla
- 2-1/2c flour (sifted 4 times)
- 1 t baking powder
- 3/4 t vanilla
Directions
- Heat oven to 425 degrees.
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add vanilla and egg.
- Add flour and baking powder.
- Drop on greased sheet.
- Bake for 6 minutes.
I don’t have a sifter so I don’t sift the flour, just make sure the dough is mixed very smooth.
Mama never used pecans in the center, she preferred cherries or nothing at all. But anything that goes with a butter cookie goes with these cookies.- Pam.
